The Succulent Rockery

Want to work until you are aching, sweaty and utterly exhausted but still go home happy and smiling? Try building a succulent garden in what was a vlei.

It helps to be ignorant; then you can't foresee the pitfalls and go along merrily learning from your own mistakes. The joy of getting compliments from an appreciative public passing by, as well as working with David and occasionally William, makes this project nothing but a pleasure.

Tribute to Selma Wastell - We were very sad to say farewell to Selma who died earlier this year. Her memorial service was held at the Rockery which she had built virtually single-handed over the past years! There is a bench there in her memory and we are sure anyone resting on it gets a wonderful sense of peace but also a charge of energy from Selma! The Rockery is a fitting monument to her love of succulents and life and ability to just get and do things no matter what!!

Written by Selma, one of our volunteers, who created this rockery.
